Known for his playful yet laborious homages to psychedelia and rock and roll, Allan Switzer inserts a bad-boy vibe into the academic traditions of modernism and abstraction. In See Me, Feel Me, serendipitous lyrical moments are enmeshed with a clean typographic sensibility, nostalgic imagery from pop culture of yore, and sentimental snapshots from times gone by. The persistent allure of rock and roll culture is investigated in these serial works: we perceive the height of talent, homage, and obsession.
