VITALY MEDVEDOVSKY - UPCOMING EXHIBITION

The new exhibition for Vitaly Medvedovsky is opening in April and everyone here at Winsor Gallery is very excited! Helmsman, below, perfectly showcases his "magical" brush strokes — see this painting and much, much more at the gallery from April 11 to May 5, 2013.

Helmsman, oil on canvas, 2012, Vitaly Medvedovsky

Originating from real places or events, Medvedovsky's paintings undergo a series of gradual transformations in order to evolve into anachronistic environments that are a mixture of fact and fiction. The acts of building, deforming, destroying, and re-building that are involved in these transformations follow the internal logic of each individual painting, and mirror the way human memory, history, and time reshape the past.

Medvedovsky’s most recent series of paintings was completed in Berlin where the artist currently lives and works. He is the recipient of the 2009 Joseph Plaskett Award, and the 2012 Toronto Arts Council Emerging Artist Award. His work has been exhibited in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Berlin, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
