The theme for this year's festival is "Field of Vision". Situating photography as an expansion of sight, these major shows reveal a shared interest in photography as a visual paradigm that structures how we imagine scenes, places, and events. 

CONTACT 2013 launches on the 1st of May, with some exhibitions opening already at the end of April, and runs until the beginning of June. The festival features more than 1,500 artists exhibiting in more than 124 venues. On top of these exhibitions, there are multiple events, lectures and workshops taking place.

The amazing British photographer, Martin Parr, has a public installation of his works available for all travelers to see at the Toronto Pearson International Airport (makes you want to fly through Toronto regardless of your final destination, doesn't it?).

CONTACT 2013 explores subjects relevant to our times and collaborate with galleries, museums, public and private institutions and agencies to create a vital focus on photography in Toronto throughout the month of May. We are growing exponentially more jealous as we discover what the festival has to offer. 

FYI, a Vancouver Based version of this event is launching in the fall of this year! Not exactly the same, but the Capture Photography Festival will showcase the very best of local and international talent and serve as a platform for Vancouver residents and visitors to engage and share experiences through the medium of photography. It runs from From October 1st to November 15th, 2013.
