LUKE PARNELL ARTIST TALK AT THE SEYMOUR ART GALLERY

Artist Talk with Luke Parnell: Transformation and Renewal from Seymour Art Gallery on Vimeo.

Haida/Nisga’a artist Luke Parnell leverages his traditional skills into the realm of contemporary politics and social mythologies. His works, which are beautifully crafted, are often allegorical, alluding to deep-running issues in education, repatriation, and cultural identity today. In August, Parnell gave an artist talk at the Seymour Art Gallery, which hosted a solo exhibition of his work curated by Rachael Lafo of the Richmond Art Gallery. Watch the video above to get a glimpse into Parnell's ideas and process.

The North Shore News also wrote an illuminating feature on Parnell's exhibition. Journalist Erin McPhee interviewed both Parnell and Lafo about Parnell's debut exhibition. Read the entire piece on the North Shore News website.

Luke Parnell will be showing new works at the gallery in the new year -- we are looking forward to seeing what he has been working on since this blockbuster exhibition.
