ART FOR LITTLE PEOPLE

We all had a challenging lesson in art-speak the other day when we had to talk about art in the gallery to a group of youngsters. It is amazing at how you need to reconsider your vocabulary to suit the inquisitive minds of 6-9 year olds. It got us thinking about potential tools one can use to help explore the world of art with children, and it lead us to this book:

In December last year lots of little people came to visit the gallery. The school tour came through to see the current exhibition of David Wilson, Bradley Harms and Alexander Caldwell. We toured these little ones around, and explained to them all about abstract art, contemporary sculpture, landscape painting, floral painting and urban street painting. In December last year lots of little people came to visit the gallery. We were lucky to have two artists on hand to discuss their work, David Wilson and Gabryel Harrison. The kids had 101 questions for each artist, it was inspiring to see all the gears turning as the learned about the art and artists at Winsor.  Here are some great shots of the day.
