Nicole
Dumas is an interdisciplinary artist and soccer referee who works with themes
related to gender, the body and identity. Within this work she explores
sports beyond the surface to look at the exchange of energy on a field of play in
order to expand spaces between competition and connectivity. Through a
collection symbols, structures and metaphors the sensational aspects of
professional sports are usurped to draw attention to questions around
‘homosocial desires’, dynamics of touch, and the seeking of glory.
