ANN GOLDBERG AT THE SPLASH ART AUCTION

Ann Goldberg, Shoes (commission), oil on canvas, 2012.

Shoes are sentimental objects. They carry us between destinations, after all, and accompany us to the music festivals, dinner parties, dates, and job interviews that end up shaping our lives. At Arts Umbrella's annual Splash Art Auction, attendees have the chance to bid on a commissioned portrait of their favourite pair of shoes by celebrated hyper-realist Ann Goldberg. This is in-keeping with this year's auction theme, Act Your Shoe Size.

Why act your shoe size? Arts Umbrella writes: "At Arts Umbrella, inspiring a child’s creativity and commitment to their own limitless potential is at the forefront of all we do. This year we invite you to take a stand, embrace your own childlike essence and act your shoe size, not your age. Bid on incredible art pieces in a fun and nostalgic environment, all in the name of accessible arts education for kids in Greater Vancouver."
