COLIN SMITH: A CANADIAN ART MUST-SEE

Listed amongst the top "must-sees" in Canadian Art is Obscure Inversion, Colin Smith's exhibition at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Smith's work is currently featured at the RBC New Works Gallery, a space committed to showing emergent Alberta artists that is presented with the support of the RBC Emerging Artists Project.

In the exhibition, Smith posits himself in forgotten and derelict places, from old motels to abandoned farmhouses to decaying lookout shelters, and transforms them into camera obscuras -- the oldest of lens-based technologies. "When basic projection techniques are combined with light, inverted and unconcealed -- even banal settings become magical."

Obscure Inversion is on now until March 1, 2015. Learn more.
